Ruislip Woods and Ruislip Lido

Ruislip Lido is located in the Ruislip Woods National Nature Reserve. Ruislip Woods itself is a National Nature Reserve with ancient natural woodland in Hillingdon, London. Anyone wanting to get to know the landscape of Ruislip will find not only a body of water here, but also woodland paths and family activities. Since 2004, the Ruislip Woods Trust has established four self-guided walking routes in Ruislip Woods. These routes offer an independent way to explore the ancient woodland, without a guided tour being mentioned as a visitor format.

A special addition is the Ruislip Lido Railway, which runs through the ancient woodland of Ruislip Woods. Woody Bay Station is located next to the beach and the children's paddling area. As a result, woodland, railway and the explicitly mentioned children's area are among the different experiences around the Lido. For practical guidance, it is also noted that all trains on the Ruislip Lido Railway are suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs and buggies.

Historic traces in Ruislip

Park Pale makes the area's earlier history visible in a public open space: the earthwork has been preserved as a clearly visible structure. At the same time, Park Pale is one of only two parks in Middlesex mentioned in the Domesday Survey. This gives the site a clearly documented historical distinction, without requiring a museum visit.

Another focal point is Manor Farm. The Manor Farm House visitor centre is located in the Tudor Manor Farm House. An audio tour there presents more than 1,000 years of history across eight different stations and lasts 40 minutes. This gives you a clearly defined way to explore the historic site through several stations. The complex also includes The Great Barn at Manor Farm, which is one of the oldest timber-framed buildings of its kind.
